Iniquity: Iniquity bloody iniquity

20/01/12  ||  The Duff

If I entered a burning building eight stories high, where the fire was still only on the top floor, you were unconscious on the sixth and this CD were on the first, I would rescue the CD first and take my chances on you being charred. “Absolutely fine, Duff; you must like Iniquity a whole lot, this being a good album of theirs?” I hear you say, lips aquifer and tears hanging from your lower lids as you try to hold together the pieces of your broken heart. Well, this here is a best-of compilation, not at all necessary unless you can’t get hold of a rather tricky to acquire “The Hidden Lore” E.P. – most of the cuts are taken from the band’s two most recent efforts “Five Across the Eyes” and “Grime”, several others off the band’s most classic phase (i.e. the aforementioned E.P. and “Serenadium”), plus a couple of bonus tracks for the collectors among you. Two things this CD has going for it are its price second-hand and the fact that if you want an introduction to the band, well they couldn’t have taken finer chunks from each album to form a cream-of-the-crop Iniquity selection for you. That said Iniquity for me are one of the most consistent death metal bands to have existed, so I’ll go with the advice you should settle with the originals presuming you won’t be disappointed.

10/10: Clearly a fanboy’s scoring, it deserves a 6 because you need the full-lengths; I just wanted to joke about watching you burn for Iniquity. As much as I do.
